What is sea freight?
Sea freight moves cargo by ship, usually in 20ft or 40ft containers or as breakbulk for items that do not fit a container. Ferry Global Logistics coordinates marine shipments for importers and exporters, linking the ocean leg with customs clearance and trucking to or from the port.
What the service covers
Full container load (FCL)
A whole container for your cargo — typically the most economical option for larger volumes.
Less than container load (LCL)
Your cargo shares container space with other shipments, suited to smaller volumes.
Breakbulk and project cargo
Machinery and oversized items that need flat racks, open tops or conventional vessel stowage.
Port-to-door connection
Combine the ocean leg with customs clearance and trucking from the port to your warehouse or site.
How it works
- 1
Cargo and route
Tell us origin, destination, commodity, volume, weight and the Incoterm agreed with your supplier or buyer.
- 2
Booking
We advise on container type and schedule and confirm the booking.
- 3
Documents
Commercial invoice, packing list and other required documents are checked before departure.
- 4
Arrival and delivery
On arrival, customs clearance and port-to-door trucking can be arranged in one plan.
Before you book: what to plan for
- Your Incoterm (EXW, FOB, CIF, DAP and so on) decides which costs and risks are yours — confirm it before booking.
- Container free-time at the port is limited; plan clearance and collection early to avoid detention and demurrage.
- Correct HS codes and complete documents are the single biggest factor in smooth clearance.

Frequently asked questions
Should I choose FCL or LCL?
It depends on volume, cost and timing. As a rough guide, if your cargo fills most of a 20ft container, FCL is usually worth comparing. Share your volume and we will advise.
Can you handle both the shipping and the customs clearance?
Yes. Customs clearance is a licensed activity for us, so the ocean leg, clearance and delivery trucking can be planned together.
What documents are needed for sea freight into the UAE?
Typically a commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading and certificate of origin, plus any permits specific to the goods. Requirements vary by commodity, so check with us before shipping.
